The procedures we offer in Merrylands are:

  • Facials: $90
  • Skin Needling: $220
  • Signature Hydra Facial: $180
  • Platinum Hydra Facial: $210
  • Microdermabrasion: $120
  • Skin Peels: $125

There are 2 main reasons for getting facials on a regular basis: Anti- Aging and Anti-Acne. For acne patients it is crucial to deep clean the congested pores, especially with extractions, to speed up the healing process, and minimize further congestion which may lead to pimple formation.

Facials are recommended every 3 to 4 weeks as it helps to renew skin cells by circulating the blood flow under the skin, which then can decrease puffiness and fluid build up that comes from our lymphatic system. Good circulation is important in that it brings oxygen, proteins and nutrition to the skin, while ridding our skin of toxins

Skin Needling / Micro Needling is recommended every 4 to 6 weeks as it is a minimally invasive & non-surgical treatment for facial rejuvenation.
Using 12 micro needles to penetrate the skin causing controlled trauma in the foundation of the skin as to achieve visible and long-lasting results.

Ultimate HydraFacial is recommended to be done once a month, it begins with the detoxification process with a steamer. Follow with the platinum HydraFacial to deeply cleanse, extract, and hydrate the skin. Address specific skin concerns with a booster of your choice. This treatment concludes with a LED light therapy to further reduce the visible signs of aging or any colour concern.

Skin Peels is recommended once a month but with that being said it also depends on your skin. A powerful skin resurfacing system that promotes skin health. This helps reduce acne, pigmentation, and signs of premature aging to reveal smoother, brighter and softer skin.

What is a facial in Merrylands?

A facial is a set of skin care treatments for your face with the goal of exfoliating your skin, removing impurities, and dead skin. It improves your skin’s elasticity, tightens facial contours, and softens skin texture as well as it can reduce wrinkles and fine lines on your face.

What is skin needling in Merrylands?

It involves pricking the skin with tiny, sterilized needles. The small wounds cause your body to make more collagen and elastin, which heal your skin and help you look younger. It also improves the appearance of acne scarring, large pores, wrinkles, and signs of aging.

What is a Signature Hydra Facial in Merrylands?

It is a 30-minute procedure that deeply cleanses, extracts, and hydrates the skin through our super serums filled with antioxidants, peptides, and hyaluronic acids. The Signature HydraFacial is great for all skin types to cleanse, exfoliate and hydrate. It uses the six key stages to completely refresh and rejuvenate the skin. This treatment will help boost hydration, refresh dull skin and protect against environmental factors, leaving your skin looking radiant.

What is Ultimate HydraFacial in Merrylands?

The ultimate skin rejuvenating treatment! Includes each step of the Essential HydraFacial plus a crystal free microdermabrasion for the face, neck and chest, an instant line-filling peptide infusion, and anti-aging arm and hand treatment and LED light therapy. It helps with fine lines and wrinkles, congested and large pores, oily or acne-prone skin, hyperpigmentation, and brown spots.

What is a Platinum hydra facial in Merrylands?

The Platinum HydraFacial experience! Begin the detoxification process with Lymphatic Drainage. Then, the Signature HydraFacial deeply cleanses, exfoliates, extracts, and hydrates the skin while addressing your specific skin concern with a Booster of your choice. It helps reduce blackheads, acne and dryness

What is Microdermabrasion in Merrylands?

Microdermabrasion is a minimally invasive skin treatment that buffs away the outermost layer of the skin to create a smoother and younger appearance. After the treatment, a new layer of skin forms. Often several treatments are needed to obtain the required results. It also helps treat wrinkles, sun-induced pigmentation (darkened skin), acne scarring, enlarged pores and ‘stretch marks.

What is a Skin Peel in Merrylands?

A chemical peel uses a chemical solution to remove layers of skin, revealing the more youthful skin underneath. Chemical peels can reduce or improve fine lines and wrinkles, acne, scars, uneven skin colouring and other skin imperfections. This can help minimise wrinkles, dullness, hyperpigmentation, and scarring.

Our clinic fees are designed to benefit our patients. We only charge the Medicare rate (MBS rate), which means you do not have to pay anything out of pocket . Nearly all insurances (even a most basic level of cover) will cover the MBS rate at the bare minimum. Here are a few reasons to pick our clinic for your next GP visit!

  1. Zero cost GP visits !
If you are worried about the out-of-pocket payment, don’t worry, we will never make you pay to see our GP’s! We only charge what all insurances cover and claim it instantly with your insurance card, so you would never have to open your wallet. If you are unsure, give your insurance agency a call and ask if they cover the medicare rate or MBS rate. Most other clinics specifically charge an out-of-pocket expense for students and visitors because they know you have to claim it back later. If you don’t get the full amount, they usually say it is something you need to discuss with your insurance. We are not like that. We specifically aim to help our patients get the most out of their insurance. We are transparent with how we do things, so in a sign of good faith you can ask your insurance what they cover on the following GP consultations:
    • Level B consult – Item 23 – $38.75 (Consultation between 5mins -20mins)
    • Level C consult – Item 36 –  $75.05 (Consultation between 20mins -40mins)
    • Level D consult – Item 44 – $110.50 (Consultation above 40mins)
      • Updated 26/4/2021 – If prices above change due to medicare paying different amounts for these services they will be updated to the MBS rate ONLY (never more).
      • We understand most international students have it tough when it comes to living expenses, jobs, and university fees. We don’t want to make it tougher than it needs to be, which is why we try to go the extra mile for our international visitors.
  2. Direct claiming for NIB, AHM, BUPA on GP visits!
As a bonus for patients that are with NIB, AHM, or BUPA- you don’t even need to put your money on the line. We claim directly from our terminal using ONLY your private health insurance card and nothing else! This is extremely useful when you are short on cash flow and NEED to see the doctor. The other benefit is you don’t have to sit and wait to see when the insurance will pay you, or what percentage the insurance will pay! Everything is handled internally for your peace of mind!
  3. Zero Costs Pathology visits!
We go the extra mile for our international patients and make sure that they do not get charged any out-of-pocket expenses for any kind of blood tests, spirometry, ECG, or any other testing. The item numbers for pathology services are dependent on what you require to get tested, but rest assured we only partner with Pathology companies that do not charge anything extra other than the MBS rate!
  4. We are accommodating!
We have doctors that are fluent in multiple languages and can understand your exact needs. There is no need for translators who may translate incorrectly on your behalf when our doctors know the language. Our doctors can speak Arabic, Hindi, Korean, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Urdu. If there are any issues with billing we are more than happy to address them!

Understanding the Medicare system for OSHC students and international visitors

We understand that there are heaps of questions behind a medicare system that OSHC students and international visitors may not be familiar with when it comes to GP consultations. Rest assured it is not as complex as you might think.

  1. Medicare covers the majority of all GP and pathology services. Medicare cards are given to PR and Australian citizens.
  2. Private health insurance is for International visitors and OSHC students to make sure they are covered for any basic health needs.
  3. When you come in for a consult as an international visitor or OSHC student, your private health insurance covers the cost of your GP visit usually up to the MBS rate. On higher levels of cover, it might cover more.
    • Some clinics recognize this and charge extra to the OSHC insurances, but usually, it’s international patients or students that end up paying that extra money.
    • We DO NOT charge any out-of-pocket expenses and only charge the MBS rate.
    • If your GP clinic has direct claiming from the HICAPS terminal then you can claim directly from the Insurance. In this instance, you won’t have to pay any money upfront. If a GP clinic is old school and doesn’t have direct claiming, then you will need to pay upfront and hope that your insurance pays the full amount (indirect claiming). In this instance, depending on the item numbers placed and how much they charged you- you may not get the full amount back.

For example

      • Clinic 1 Direct claiming (Woodville Rd Medical and Dental).
        1. After your consult, you would wipe your private health insurance card on the terminal.
        2. That is it. Job all done. Simple as that. No money exchanged.
      • Clinic 2 Indirect claiming (Generic other clinics).
        1. After your consult, the doctor will let you know which item it is and how much you will need to pay. Now, this is where it gets tricky.
        2.  If it’s a Level B consult, and you for example you are charged $70 then you must pay $70 at the counter.
          1. You will then have to send the claim to your insurance.
          2. But insurances typically only pay the MBS rate which is below (item 23 – $38.75)
          3. Which means they will only reimburse you $38.75 in a few days or a week. You would be out of pocket by $31.25.

Well, how could you know what the item was and whether there would be a gap? Who do you complain to that you had to pay $31.25? If you had asked how much the consultation was before, then you have gotten the response, “It depends on the duration of the consultation” (Scroll down for more information about consult duration and item numbers). Couldn’t he have charged me a higher-level consultation instead of a lower-level consultation? (medicare audits the time and would be illegal).

What is Dental Private Health Insurance and what is NO-GAP Dental?

Private Health Insurance is a form of co-payment where the insurance pays a portion of the treatment completed. Payments are usually made as a percentage of treatment completed. The remaining treatment must still be paid, and this portion is called the GAP.

At our Merrylands Practice, our dentists perform NO-GAP Check up and Cleans. This mean that you are not charged the GAP and have no out of pocket expenses. The clinic only takes what the insurance pays, and does not charge the GAP to the patient. This allows a cost effective way to get your 6 monthly cleans & check ups done, with out going out of pocket.

Private health insurance can also cover other treatments such as fillings, tooth removal, whitening, invisalign, dentures (false teeth), crowns, root canals (nerve treatment), veneers and orthodontic. These treatments are not NO-GAP and will usually have a percentage of the GAP being passed on. The amount of GAP being passed on depends on the level of cover of your health insurance.

Does your Private Health Insurance cover you?

Here at Woodville Road Medical and Dental Merrylands, we accept all the major health funds for your convenience.

The list of our health funds currently includes:

  • Bupa
  • AHM
  • NIB
  • HCF
  • IMAN
  • Allianz
  • MediBank
  • HBF
  • GMHBA
  • Frank
  • Quantas
  • CBHS
  • …and many more!

If your heath fund is not listed above, please call us on 9681 5880. We will still accept your fund, however direct claiming might not be possible.

Major Dental vs Minor Dental

Dental insurances seperate treatments in to Minor Dental and Major Dental. This is to diffferentiate the level of complexity of certain treatments.

Most dental insurances cover Minor Dental, but not all policies cover Major Dental

Which procedures are Major Dental and Minor Dental?

Minor Dental

  • Check and Cleans
  • Fillings
  • Extractions
  • Fluoride
  • X-rays

Major Dental

  • Dentures
  • Root Canal (Nerve Treatment)
  • Surgical Extractions
  • Invisalign
  • Braces
  • Crowns
  • Bridges
  • Implants
  • Whitening

How Much Does My Dental Health Insurance Cover and Will my treatment be No-GAP?

Dental Health Insurances are all different and the coverage they all have varies based on your premium. Our Check up and Cleans are ALWAYS GAP FREE / NO GAP. This allows you to get a snapshot of where your dental health is, without breaking the bank. During your NO-GAP check up and cleans we will always take photos and xrays to show you what to change to improve your health.

Other treatments do attract a gap, as insurances only pay a percentage of fees. Most insurances will cover 60% of treatment costs, with higher levels of cover offering higher rebates.

Our advice for patients is always the same – Make your Dental choices the same way you would make any other health related choices. You would not pick your cardiac surgeon for a heart operation based on what the insurance pays, so why would you treat your teeth any differently. You would always pick the best quality of service as health always comes first. At Woodville Rd Medical and Dental our dentist adhere to the highest quality and as such can offer guarantees on our work. Teeth, just like any other part of the body, is a Health issue and should be treated with the highest quality and not the highest saving because of NO-GAP Treatments.

All that being said, we accept all insurances and will always try and pass on the maximium saving to our patients.

Dental Hospital voucher

What are Dental Hospital vouchers?

Hospital vouchers are issued from a public local dental hospital to patients that cannot afford dental treatment and currently get a Centrelink payment. Hospital vouchers allow these patients to present the voucher to a private dental clinic and get the same or better treatment from a private dental clinic. If you ask your public dental hospital for a dental voucher, instead of getting the treatment done in the hospital, they usually will give you the voucher.

What does a Dental Hospital voucher allow me to do?

Vouchers will allow you to get the treatment you need. Dental vouchers are a way of the public system funding your need for dental work. It can help you get out of pain or do basic dentistry work like cleans and fillings.

What does a Dental Hospital voucher cover?

Items covered under the hospital vouchers are Cleans, Fillings, Dentures (False teeth), Root Canals / Nerve treatments (Stage 1 or 3) and Extractions (removing the tooth).

Cosmetic items like veneers or braces are usually not covered and must be paid privately. We will ensure our best to make sure you make the most of your dental voucher!

How do I get the process started?

There are many ways to get started with the process. Read below to get the process started.

How to get the process started for a Dental Hospital Voucher!

There are many ways to get the process started. Here are the main ones listed below. Please remember this is the public system that you will be dealing with. Extended wait times on the phones, long waiting times and quality of care at public dental hospitals need to be considered before making a decision. At a private clinic, you get personalized care with appointments tailored to your needs.

Initial Private consultation!

In this process, we get you to come in for a private consultation ($50). We provide you with a letter of support and a treatment plan. We email/fax this off to the local hospital and then they will send you a dental voucher for our private dental clinic IF you are eligible for a voucher.

  1. Private consultation.
  2. Woodville Rd Medical and Dental center will email/fax the Treatment plan and Letter of support.
  3. You receive a dental voucher.
  4. You come back in for further treatment.

Calling the Local Public hospital!

In this process, you call the local hospital and hope that they are sympathetic to your needs and send a dental voucher. The issue with this process is that they will ask you if you’re in pain or if it is an urgent issue. They will then triage your condition and place you on a waiting list. They may call you in to get the work done, but the usual waiting times in 1 year to 1.5 years. At this time the problem usually gets worse and the tooth usually has to be removed.

Because there is no set treatment plan or letter of support from an authorised dentist, they can’t really understand what is going on inside your mouth. This is why the waiting times are significantly longer for this method.

  1. Call the local dental hospital
  2. Wait for a dental voucher if they decide to send one to you. (1-1.5 years for waiting times)
  3. Book an appointment with our clinic and come in for further treatment.

If you are in pain

Our private dental clinic is exceptional at getting patients out of pain. We pride ourselves on working hard and working late to meet your needs. We are open till 8 pm on all weekdays and are also open on the weekends.

If you are in pain, please give us a call or book online and we WILL slot you in so you are seen on the day!

How long should I wait before calling the dental hospital about my voucher

Dental vouchers are a slow process when it is not expedited by a qualified dental professional. Waiting times to be seen by a dentist at the local public dental hospital can be long. If you can’t wait till then, please call our clinic and we can help you out.
