Merrylands Bulk Billed Varicose Vein Removal

5 Reasons to get Varicose veins removed!

  1. Aesthetics
Varicose veins can look quite disfiguring, and they only get worse as time goes by. It’s a sad truth, but by leaving varicose veins unattended, the swollen vein gets worse and is harder to repair. Your options for solving varicose veins are sclerotherapy or surgery. Sclerotherapy is relatively non-invasive and can be just as effective compared to surgery in the majority of circumstances. If you are concerned about your varicose veins, read below on our process (bulk billed) on how to get rid of them!
  2. Constant pain, throbbing, and tenderness in the legs
This needs no explaining. Once it gets to this stage, it is quite debilitating. It takes more energy for your body to circulate the same amount of blood. There is of course the risks of blood clots and these can lead to dire consequences such as strokes and heart attacks. Prevent is better than cure. If you think you have varicose veins, or are concerned about long-standing veins, please make a consult with our surgeon, who will assess and let you know the best course of action. We have bulk-billed these consults for your benefit.
  3. Skin sores and ulcers
Skin sores and ulcers occur as certain parts of the body take more pressure and have repeated friction. These areas are usually when the varicose veins have started to bulge and they take more pressure than other areas. This ulceration and soreness brings about more swelling and makes the varicose vein bulge more.
  4. Blood clots
As the vein gets rubbed against, it is quite fragile. Bleeding can occur internally as blood clots and can cause bruising or floating blood clots in the body.
  5. Bleeding from the veins
As mentioned previously, veins are fragile. Veins are usually wrapped inside the body and well protected. When they come to the surface, any small trauma can cause the vein to pop and this can be quite dangerous. Bleeding out is rare, but it can be quite traumatic to deal with. It is best to dissolve these veins before that cause havoc in your life. If you would like to get more information on varicose vein removal, please discuss with our bulked billed surgeon. The process is listed below.

What is really going on in a varicose vein?

Come to our Merrylands Clinic for surgical varicose vein removal. Varicose veins are enlarged blood vessels that form beneath the skin surface. The one-way valves in the veins that would normally channel the blood back to the heart do not function properly, causing blood to ‘pool’ in the veins. These veins can become large, painful & unattractive and can cause symptoms such as tired, heavy, aching, burning, itching or cramping legs.

Depending on the severity of your varicose veins they may be suitable for injection therapy. This procedure can be done in my rooms. No preparation is required. We will advise you on your first consultation whether your veins are suitable. If your veins are suitable you will need to purchase a pair of gradient compression stockings before the procedure being carried out. There are several brands available (Venosan, Jobst etc) and most large chemist shops carry a range.

Our varicose vein removals are performed by our talented surgical consultant, Doctor Paramalingam Lingathas.

Treatment

A tiny needle is used to inject a sclerosing solution directly into the unwanted vein. The solution acts on the inner lining of the vein, causing it to shrink so that no more blood can flow through the unwanted vein. Within weeks, the unused vein is absorbed by the body & eventually becomes barely noticeable or invisible. Following injection the leg is placed in a gradient compression stocking which helps the lining of the collapsed vein stick together. As these stockings are quite hot to wear most patients have their treatments in the cooler months of the year. Patients are advised to walk following the procedure, which forces the blood to flow through other healthy blood vessels nearby. A vein may need to be injected more than once, depending on its size. In any one treatment session, a number of veins can be injected. Several sessions may be needed for any vein region, depending on the type and number of veins being treated.

Surgical Vasectomy In Merrylands

9 reasons to get a vasectomy over other contraceptions!

Benefits of a Vasectomy for Men:

  • Vasectomies are more effective.
    • Vasectomies are more effective than other contraceptive methods (99% effective!)
  • No need for general anesthesia.
    • A vasectomy does not require going under general anesthesia. The procedure instead, is most commonly done with simple local anesthesia. Because a vasectomy does not require anesthesia, the entire process takes Dr Lingathas only about 15 minutes to complete. There is NO general anaesthesia costs and not in hospital stay costs which can get quite pricey.
  • Lower cost than all other forms of birth control.
    • The average cost of a vasectomy is thousands of dollars cheaper than the methods of sterilization for women. In comparison, a vasectomy costs as little as under $990 at Woodville Rd Medical and Dental centre.
  • It is a one-time cost.
    • It is also worth noting that the cost of a vasectomy is just a one-time expense. With other forms of birth control, such as the pill or condoms, the price may be initially cheaper but obviously accrues with each purchase, making years of using condoms or oral contraceptives more expensive in the long run.
  • The procedure is often covered by insurance.
    • A vasectomy is covered by most insurance providers, meaning that the procedure will cost significantly less once you have met your deductible.
    • It is a fast procedure and recovery.
      • For recovery, only 48 hours or less are required away from work.
    • The procedure is done in the doctor’s office rather than an operating room.
      • A contributing factor to the shorter procedure time and lower cost for vasectomies is the fact that the procedure can often be done in the office rather than an operating room. This signifies the simplicity of the procedure, as well as helps many feel more comfortable.
    • No scalpel vasectomies are available.
      • To even further simplify and improve recovery time, doctors have discovered a no-scalpel version of the vasectomy. This option is less invasive and has even fewer risks associated with it.

Benefits of a Vasectomy for Women:

  • Stopping hormonal birth control.
    • Every woman is different in how they react to various types of birth control, but a common side effect for many is exaggerated mood changes due to hormones. A woman is better able to regulate her mood and feel like herself when those additional hormones are not a factor. It also allows women to no longer worry about trying to remember to take a daily pill.
  • Avoiding more invasive tubal ligation.
    • As previously discussed, the procedure, recovery time, and risk factors are all much greater for tubal ligation in comparison to a vasectomy. Tubal ligation requires a visit to the hospital, an hour or longer procedure in the operating room under general anesthesia, and a potential overnight stay for monitoring. The pain throughout the four to seven-day recovery may be more significant, and although the risk is still relatively low, there is no risk to vital organs with a vasectomy.
  • Prevent failure of female sterilization, which may result in ectopic pregnancy.
    • The risks associated with pregnancy in women who have undergone tubal ligation include an uncommon occurrence of an ectopic pregnancy which may present a severe health risk to the women and an unsuccessful, painful pregnancy.

The decision to get a vasectomy as a permanent form of birth control is of course a very personal one. The best option for each person is dependent on the individual’s situation and consultation with a doctor; however, there are many benefits as detailed above to be considered for getting a vasectomy.

If you would like to learn more about the process, recovery time, benefits, and more feel free to come in for a Bulk-Billed Consult (No out-of-pocket expenses with a medicare card)!

What to expect!

Vasectomy is a surgical procedure that involves cutting the supply of sperm. It is a birth control method that is performed on a male. During this procedure, the sperm tubes are severed and the sperm can no longer make their way into the semen. Even though ejaculation will still occur during sex, there is no sperm to fertilize the female’s egg, and no pregnancy can result from the sex if no sperm is present.

Surgical Circumcision In Merrylands

The most common and oldest surgical procedure is circumcision. New-born males come to the earth with a piece of skin covering the penis’ head, known as the foreskin. Circumcision is then performed to remove this piece of skin. Various justifications exist for this practice, including cultural, religious, medical, and social purposes.

The time for performing circumcision varies as healthy infants can undergo the procedure 2 to 3 days after birth. Some others perform circumcision when they become much older. That is, as grown-up children or as adults.

What is circumcision?

Ear Vacuuming Services In Merrylands

Circumcision is the surgical procedure through which the foreskin of the penis is removed. Cutting off this shroud of skin results in the exposure of the penis. Circumcision is thus believed to enable males to keep the area around the penis clean.

A larger percentage of circumcision is performed for newborns shortly after birth. Many have it later in life, while some never undergo the procedure. Most importantly, clinics like ours only offer circumcision for people above the age of 8.

What is circumcision? The Process of Surgical Circumcision

Initial consult

Before circumcision, consulting one of our Merryland GPs is necessary before seeing our surgeon, Doctor Paramalingam Lingathas. Our doctors will take the time to give a clear explanation of the benefits and risks of circumcision.

In some cases, you might have to wait for some time, before undergoing the circumcision. Such situations might be in cases of a premature baby, or a baby with a family history of bleeding problems, or a baby born with any problem relating to genital organ disorders. During this waiting period, written consent is required. Also, it is important to mention that the initial consult and the surgery can be done within a week.

Surgical Circumcision

Circumcision for newborns, older children, and adults follows the same procedure. For children, the child will be awake during the procedure and will be placed on their back with their legs and arms in a restrained position.

Then, an antiseptic will be used to clean up the penis, and a local anesthetic agent applied or injected into its base. A plastic ring will be attached to the penis head, after which the foreskin will be removed. After a while, the ring will fall off, and an ointment will be applied to the penis before it is wrapped in gauze. It takes about 10 minutes for a baby, while for an adult, it might take up to 30 minutes. Mobility is not affected as the patient can walk about after the surgery.

Recovery

Following surgery, some discomfort occurs normally. For adults, you will be able to walk out of the clinic right away, though you will be in recovery for 3-4 days.  Urination will be normal, with no discomfort.

What causes man boobs?

Enlarged male boobs are otherwise known as gynecomastia. It occurs as a result of proliferated glandular tissue in men. Men are not born to have protruded breasts like women. Gynecomastia is caused by increased male estrogen production and decreased testosterone levels during puberty.

Alternatively, the presence of excess fat in a man’s chest is another cause of man boobs.

With both cases, a simple male breast reduction surgery can alleviate men of this affliction.

What Is Involved In The Male Breast Reduction Surgery?

There are two methods for a Man Boob Reduction Surgery:

  1. The Use of Liposuction

Treating gynecomastia with the use of liposuction involves the use of local anesthesia with sedation. This surgery is executed with a small incision on the sides of the chest or within the armpit. Through this, the surgeon removes excess fat and glandular tissues from the chest, and at the same time, shapes the chest to that which best fits.

Patients are given contraction garments to reduce swelling and aid quick healing. Specific instructions will be given to every patient by the surgeon to aid with for the rapid recovery of the tissues.

  1. Treating Gynecomastia Using Tissue Incision

Cases with significant sagging skin around the breast require a treatment other than liposuction. These patients are offered tissue incision.

This involves the removal of glandular tissues. Incisions are made around the creases of the chest for the removal of excess fat.

Male breast reduction surgery through tissue incision involves the use of general anesthesia. For recovery, patients are given constriction garments to reduce swelling and aid quick tissue healing.

It is vitfor patients to first see a GP for advice and to see if surgery is the best choice for you. After the surgery, follow all instructions given by the surgeon.
